A Production Grant Will Be Awarded

The Partnership Will Kick Off at an Event for Creators in Los Angeles

November 22, 2016 (New York, NY) – Interactive media and technology company Interlude and Virgin Produced, the entertainment arm of the Virgin Group, announced today that they are teaming up on the creation of original interactive content. The partnership will initially kick off with at least one $20,000 production grant for creator(s) to produce a series that utilizes Interlude’s interactive storytelling medium. This opportunity for creators to explore interactive storytelling with Interlude’s video medium will officially launch on December 1st with an event in Los Angeles for writers and filmmakers.

Interlude and Virgin Produced are looking for the most forward-thinking minds in storytelling. Those who know how to create stories that intrinsically marry form and content and those who aren’t afraid to insist on creating what’s never been imagined before. This unique partnership and production grant provided by Interlude and Virgin Produced will invigorate those creators to utilize this interactive video medium to create a serialized show that will debut on Eko, Interlude’s entertainment platform, in association with Virgin Produced.

To apply for the grant, creative teams will submit treatments for an interactive series, outlining the overall idea, main characters, seasonal arc, and interactive structure. Creators are not limited by subject: submissions can be fiction, unscripted, live-action or animated. Most importantly, ideas must be “inherently interactive”—that is, the interactive concept drives the narrative. And lastly, ideas must work as a series, which, at a minimum, is three three-minute episodes. Applications open on December 1st, 2016, with a launch event in Los Angeles, and will close on January 20th, 2017. The winner will be announced on or shortly after February 16, 2017.

Interlude will provide creative support and guidance for creators about techniques for interactive storytelling, and will provide its simple, powerful authoring tool, Eko Studio, to enable the creation of these interactive projects. Virgin Produced will provide overall production support on the actual series. The final series will initially be distributed and promoted on Eko and Virgin Produced’s platforms.

“Interlude’s platform is truly a new medium for creators,” says Alex Vlack, VP of Creative. “To anyone who’s ever dreamed of telling stories that put the audience in charge, for anyone who’s ever wanted to break out of the constraints of traditional, linear storytelling: your time has come. We can’t wait to see what you make.”

“As technology continues to disrupt the traditional media space, we are excited to partner with a like-minded, forward-thinking company that is redefining how viewers engage in content, “ says Jennifer Cron, Director of Development at Virgin Produced. “We are looking for inventive writers and filmmakers who look to break the mold of storytelling, and bring their ideas to life.”
